Trudy Langford has resigned from the board.

The meeting was called to order by President Linda Wise, who welcomed all Board Members and a large group of visitors to our meeting.

The minutes of the 2006 annual meeting were read and approved.

Correspondence: from Cascade Paint Horse Club, request for all riding futurities and Yearling Longeline at their show in Central Point, September 5, 6 & 7, 2008

Email requesting TCF stand by their rules, regarding a registration conflict with a foal that was exhibited in the weanling futurities and won considerable monies.

2007 Financial Report was present and approved.

The 2007 futurities were reviewed.  It was decided that the $1400 overtime judging for the weanling futurities at Eugene were excessive and the $750 we have already paid is sufficient.  The three clubs involved have agreed to accept this amount.  Cascade Paint Horse club asked to hold the Yearling Longeline this year.  After discussion the Board agreed.

2008 Futurities

Yearling Halter Open and Non Pro, Blue Mt PHC, June 14 & 15, Walla Walla, WA

Yearling Longeline, 2 Year Old Western & English, 3 Year Old Western & English, Non Pro 3 & 4 Year Old Western & English and 3 & 4 Year Old Reining, Cascade PHC, September 5, 6 & 7, Central Point OR

Weanling Open and Non Pro Halter, 2 Year Old Non Pro Western & English, Oregon PHC, Eugene OR, October 10, 11 & 12.    TCF will need to hire 2 judges, one for each day to judge the weanling halter as this show is now only a 4 judge show. TCF will ask for a morning slot on Saturday and Sunday for exhibiting the weanlings.

OPHB/TCF Annual Meeting Minutes

An entry in the weanling futurities that did not have a paid stallion nomination due to a mix up in shipped semen was discussed.  This foal was 1st in non pro and 2nd in open.

MSC: TCF will find out when the owner was notified the DNA was not correct and if it was before the weanling futurities, TCF will stand by their current rules that state that the sire and dam must be nominated prior to the weanling futurities.

TCF had 5 buckle sponsors for 2007.Cascade Paint Horse Club offered to contribute their $5 per horse TCF fee due their club to sponsor buckles next year. (2007 amount was $285). Wenaha Paints (1), Kelly Shea (1 Personal 2 Corporate) and Pelton Show Horses (1) all agreed to sponsor a buckle for 2008.

Our thank you gift to Keith Swanson was described for the Board.

Bev Rising was elected to the Board of Directors.

Board member Sarah Bobbitt has missed two annual meetings so according to TCF current rules she will be removed from the Board.

The Oregon Paint Horse Breeders, Inc., was formed in 1986 by a group of Paint horse enthusiasts to promote Paint Horses through various futurities:  Open & Nonpro Weanling & Yearling Halter, Open and NonPro Yearling Longeline, Open and NonPro 2 & 3 Year Old Western and English Pleasure.

The Triple Crown Futurity Program requires a stallion and the mares bred to be nominated by paying a fee.  These fees are then split between stallion and mare owners and added back to the futurities.

The resulting foal (colored or breeding stock) from a nominated stallion and mare is hen eligible for any or all of the Triple Crown Futurities with a sustaining entry fee for each futurity entered.

The Triple Crown Futurities are open for entry to anyone, anywhere, who owns an eligible foal and all owners of eligible foals of any year are encouraged to participate in the respective futurities.

THIS YEAR WE ARE VERY PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THAT ONE MILLION DOLLARS HAS BEEN PAID OUT TO DATE TO ELIGIBLE HORSES AND STALLION OWNERS.

First:             Each year the stallion must be listed according to the following schedule:
$125 thru November 30 breeding year
                        $250 December 1st thru December 31st
$375 January 1st thru closure of weanling futurity entries

Second:       Each year mares in foal to or that have a foal by a listed stallion must be nominated
according to the following fee schedule:
$ 60 Thru March 1 (of the year the foal is to be born)
                        $120 March 2nd thru May 1st
$180 May 2nd thru closure of weanling futurity entries.

Third:            The resulting foal (colored or breeding stock) from a dual nominated stallion and
mare is then eligible for ANY OR ALL OPHB/TCF Futurities with a sustaining futurity
entry fee for each futurity entered.  Late entries are accepted with Pentalties.

All foals remain eligible even if sold to new owners.

OPHB/TCF allows all registered eligible foals to participate in all futurity divisions.  Colored and breeding stocks shown together.  Registration papers, or in the case of weanlings, proof of pending registration (work order number) must be present to the futurity secretary.  No monies will be given out until a copy of registration is received.

2004 Futurity Schedule:

Non-Pro Yearling Halter, 3 YO Western and English Pleasure, May 22, 23, SEPHC, Klamath Falls, OR

Open Yearling Hlater & Longeline, June 5, 6; Blue Mt.PHC, Walla Walla, WA

Linda Clark

Jim Schehen

Ed Clark

Excused board members:  Steve Patterson, Chris Lantz and Don Hill

Vice President, Tamara Chastain, called the meeting to order.  The minutes of the 2003 annual meeting were read and approved as corrected.  The 2004 financial report was presented and reviewed.

Advertising costs were reviewed.

M/S/C: Reduce monthly business card ads in the three magazines we currently use to bi-monthly ads.

The 2005 Triple Crown Directory was discussed.  Stallion owners are not advertising in our directory as much as they have in the past.

M/S/C Open up advertising in our directory to all advertisers, in a section separate from the stallion owner ads.  Amendment to motion: We will offer two size ads to advertisers that are not stallion owners, business card or quarter page.  Prices will be set according to recommendations from our printer.

There was a discussion regarding drug testing.   There was concern about testing weanlings because of medications versus drugs.  It was agreed any positive drug results would be handled on an individual basis.  The secretary will contact a Vet or UC Davis to get defined what is in a drug test panel.

2004 futurities were reviewed.  The 2005 futurities were assigned to the sponsoring clubs the same as 2004.

Yearling Halter & Yearling Longeline – Blue Mt PHC, Walla Walla, WA, June 4 & 5 2005

Yearling Non Pro Halter and 3 Yr Old Western & English, SE Oregon PHC, Klamath Falls, OR, June 11 & 12, 2005

Weanling Halter & Non Pro 2 Yr Old Western Pleasure, Oregon/Central Oregon PHC’s, location pending, October 8 & 9, 2005

We still need more sponsors for our award buckles.  Ed Clark will continue to work on getting sponsors.  Linda Clark has several sponsors pending and will see that the web site is revised to give more exposure to our sponsors in addition to having a loose insert in the 2005 directory that list the current year sponsors.

Our web page gets lots of use.  We will put a counter on it to see exactly how many people use it.

M/S/C to pay our web master $50 per month for as long as she does our web site.

OPHB/TCF    Annual Meeting Minutes                              December 2004

The stallion listing payment rule was discussed.   No change was made.

A suggestion was made and approved to add our website on the sale form.

A suggestion was made and approved to add a line to the 2005 Directory that states the total of how much was paid out in 2004 per division.  IE: Weanlings, Yearlings etc.

A suggestion was made and approved to have judges write list of placings and give to the stewards to position, so exhibitors do not miss a call.

M/S/C All futurity entries for a division close 3 hours before the beginning of those futurities.   Amended to one hour.  Passed

The reining futurity was discussed.  Dean Maldonado will research reining entry fees and sponsorships and try to get back to the Board in approximately 45 days.

Kay Simmelink will talk to the Central Oregon PHC about providing added money for the reining.
