Trail Ride On Jun 14 had 7 riders and lots of fun on a trail around the base of Grizzley Mtn originating at John Sharp's Corrals between Madras and Prineville, If you go back into our COPHC for a number of years not only will you recognize the name John Sharp as being one of our great contributors to the COPHC when we had shows in Prineville but also as a leading horseman of the state for many, many years. All of us enjoyed our visit with John and his wife, Joyce, and his sister at the potluck that followed the Ride. We are in hopes we can have another trail ride in the fall and attract more riders and you will need to keep in touch with our Activities Director, Luella Clark, 541-419-8973 Paint432@yahoo.com
We finished up with our last show of the 3 Series Silver Buckle All-Breed Open Shows on June 29th. Pictures can be seen on this link. Congratulations to all of our winners of the buckles as well as the High Point Awards given at each individual show and our 1st place winners in all shows.

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST IS A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR WORK CREWS AT EACH SHOW.
Carolyn Horning for being our Show Manager and getting all of the arrangements made for the arenas and then putting the trail, equitation patterns and making sure all of their equipment was set up and maintained. We could not have managed without Carolyn's tireless work on the ground as well as getting this all put together for us.
Karen White with also arrangements plus doing a superb job of announcing at the 1st two shows. Unfortunately Karen had to go back on Insurance Claims to the Midwest so she had her sister Laurie Pieterick fill in for more than half of the day for the 3rd Show and then finished by both Shannon Main and Michele Simmelink-Rask.
2008 COPHC Queen, Britny Haney, presenting our Awards at all 3 shows including ribbons, show awards and Silver Buckle High Points.
Paris Steen for being our In Gate manager for all 3 shows with the help of Luella Clark on both the In and Out Gates. Luella also filled in to distribute the awards for our 3rd Show.
Sandy & Katie Schaff for running tickets for placing, helping set up trail and equitation courses, general work on the ground and distributing the awards. Sandy also helped with taking entries.
Shannon Main and Kay Simmelink in the office, keeping scores and managing entries. Michele Simmelink-Rask helped in the office before the start of the 3rd show as well as helping on the ground as Scribe for the 1st two judges and helping set up the trail and equitation courses.
Chuck Simmelink and a few new members fathers helped Carolyn set up and take down the trail classes at all 3 shows as well as hauled the office equipment up and down the long stairs at the two arenas. Kristi Carter also helped in this endeavor.
And a thank you to our 3 fine judges. 1st Show, Terri Nicholson, 2nd Show, Kelly Huntington and 3rd show Joan Horton.
Please take some time to thank these people. We would like to see all of our new members attend our meetings and have some input into what we would like to see for a new show series in 2009. Carolyn has been in contact with the Appy Club and there it is seriously being considered to put on a Colorful Classic Approved Breed Show along with our All-Breed Open show (last show of the season in 2009). So we'd definitely like to see some suggestions along those lines as well as how to improve our All-Breed Open Shows. We had many complements on how well our shows were run and how much fun they were so we're in hopes we can continue this into 2009 with your help. Our next meeting will be July 9th at Madaline's Grill & Steak House next door to McDonalds on S. Hwy 97, Redmond, Oregon. Meeting begins at 6:30/7:00PM on July 9th.
